A poem written in 3rd grade as a part of cross-curricular learning of Language Arts and Science. We were learning about writing poetry and the phases of the moon.

Circa 2012

I’ve four faces - there would have been five.

If only the new moon would decide to arrive.

I start with a crescent, a golden floating canoe.

Grow into a half-wedge of the creamiest cheese you knew.

Then onto a pearly gibbous, missing but a sliver.

Lastly, a perfect round cookie with sparkling sugar.
